Manifest: Animation Show & Tell is a movement that helps spread love of independent animation throughout the world. Started by animator Tess Martin in Rotterdam in 2014, it is a format for animation show & tell evenings designed to be appropriated by other cities.
Just like the show & tell exercise you may have done at school, participants bring an animation clip that they love (that they didn’t create themselves) and they share with the audience what it is and why they chose it. Each evening there are three presenters and one moderator, who ensures the conversation remains lively. All clips are played directly from the moderator’s laptop, that is also ideally connected to the internet, allowing for last minute searches of other animation, if the conversation inspires it. Manifest is an informal event, where the audience is encouraged to contribute.

Want to show & tell?
Click the city name above for more specific information about the Manifest events in your city. Generally, there are 3 criteria for the clip to share: 1. it should be animated, 2. It should be made by someone other than yourself and 3. it should be under 5 minutes. You do not have to be an animator to present a clip, but you should be able to explain why you find it inspiring.
Manifest & Fair Use:
Manifest is a non-commercial, educational and discussion-oriented event series. We primarily show excerpts from films that are already publicly viewable online. Read more about Fair Use here.
